Cape Town, South Africa - Day 2

Mitchell’s Waterfront Brewery

Today our plan was to go to the V&A waterfront mall to find the brewery we had seen yesterday when we’d driven by the mall on the bus for our tour.  We took the shuttle to the mall and accomplished an errand before heading over to the brewery.  We had absolutely no trouble finding it, and it turned out to be well worth the visit.  We had a snack basket and tried two of their beers.  The beers were excellent.  They offer about six of their own and have about 20 or so other beers on tap.  We liked the beer so much we also bought some glasses and shirts.  Those beers are worthy of the craft brewing traditions in the US.  We had the 90 Shilling Scottish Ale (5% ABV) and the Old Wobbly (11% ABV).

African beer!!  They have started their own artisanal beer culture and from the two we tasted they are well on their way to doing it right!

No account of visiting Cape Town would be complete without a view of Table Mountain, so here is one taken during our sail-away.  There are more photos in the album.
