Red Car Brewery, Torrance, CA

Red Car is a brewery we discovered thanks to a gentleman at Brewco in Manhattan Beach.  We started talking to him because he was wearing an Arrogant Bastard (Stone Brewing) t-shirt, and he told us that Red Car makes a really good IPA.

We went to Red Car for our Sunday lunch.  There was a street fair selling antiques that had some of the streets in the immediate neighborhood blocked off.  We did manage to find parking.

The decor was nice; the place had a good pub feel to it.  One of the nice aspects was that the pub is located in an historic building that once housed Pacific Telephone.

We started out with a sampler of five of their beers, which included a seasonal beer.  All of them were quite good, especially the IPA.

We ordered lunch, including dessert.  Our sandwich was very nice, and the dessert, a crème brûlée, was one of the best we’ve had by far, second only to the one at the Outer Banks Brewing Station.

We were very pleased with the beer, food and service, and would go back again if we are in the area.  When we were researching Los Angeles brewpubs on the Internet, we did not find much positive about locally brewed beer.  We were grateful to find out about Red Car and to find that it was worth our efforts to get there.
