Pecan Grill & Brewery, Las Cruces, NM

De La Vega’s Pecan Grill and Brewery is an elegant restaurant/brewpub, located at the Lohman Avenue exit on I-25.  This was the final stop on our continental brewpub crawl (our official designation for this year’s road trip).  We had visited here once before when we were treated to dinner by a friend.  We enjoyed it so much that we decided we needed to pay a return visit and see what else they had to offer.

So, as usual, we ordered a sampler to see how their other beers measured up to the pecan beer, which is just amazing, and a must-try for any beer lover.  As you can see from this photo, they brew 12 different beers.  The pecan beer is by far the best, but strangely enough, their green chile beer is very nice (unlike the green chile wine we tried at a wine festival several years ago).  You get a definite green chile flavor, but there is no heat from the chiles, and it is a very smooth brew.  We can see that it might go well with some dishes on the restaurant menu.  The chances are good, though that on future visits we will stay with the pecan beer.

On both of our visits the food has been excellent.  The service was much better in the dining room when we visited for dinner.  This time we were in the bar/lounge area, and even though it was not particularly busy that afternoon, service was slow.

As you can see from the photo below, the decor here is very nice.  Even the entryway is provided with comfortable seating for those times when parties have to wait for a table.

You can find more information about the Pecan Grill on their website at http://www.pecangrill.com.  And there are more photos in the album.
