Cypress Street Station, Abilene, TX

The Cypress Street Station, which includes Abilene Brewing Co., was our dinner stop on August 17, 2012.  It is located in downtown Abilene.  We got there pretty late and ended up closing the place at 10:30 on a Friday night.  By the time we were ready to leave the pub section was empty.  At least on Friday nights they have The Piano Man to entertain in the dining room, who was pleasant to listen to.  Cypress Street Station describes itself as Abilene’s landmark restaurant and only brewery.

We tried a sampler of their beers, which included the Honey Nut Brown Ail, Red Ale, IPA and Bock.  All but the IPA were very good; the IPA bore no resemblance to any other IPA we’ve ever tried, and it was pretty much flavorless.  The food was very good, too.

Our server, unfortunately, does not drink beer and really knew nothing about the beers.  This is not helpful when you go to a brewpub for the first time and want to get to know their beers.  Apart from that, it was a pleasant experience at a place worth visiting when you are in Abilene.

You can find their website at http://www.cypress-street.com.  There are more pictures in the photo album.
