Asheville Brewing Company, Asheville, NC

Today we drove into downtown Asheville to check out some of the local breweries.  Since it was lunch time, we opted to make the Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company our first stop.

Asheville Brewing Company is located at 77 Coxe Avenue in downtown Asheville.  The first thing you notice upon arrival is the huge patio, which appears to include a stage for musical performances.  There are old kegs in the windows, which have been made into planters.

We tried two of their beers:  the Ninja Porter and the Shiva IPA, both of which were excellent.  Our Paul Reuben sandwich was likewise excellent, possibly the best Reuben we’ve ever eaten.  The service was great, the atmosphere was pleasant, and we even got to watch a Women’s World Cup soccer game as we ate.

The menu had a wide variety of foods which sounded interesting, and also had cute names.  Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company seems to follow the tradition we’ve found at other brewpubs:  good beer and good food.  They do have one beer that is infused with jalapeño peppers, but we were not quite ready for that today.  This is definitely a place worth returning to.

Their website is at http://ashevillebrewing.com/2011/index.html

Asheville Brewing has something for everyone.  For those who don’t care for beer, they also have a full bar.  For those who don’t drink at all, the food is well worth the visit.

There are additional photos in the album.
